Chick paper is used at the beginning of each flock in broiler production. The paper is rolled out down the length of the house in multiple strips close to the drinker lines and chick crumb is placed on top. When the birds are placed on the paper they are attracted to the food and the water by the rustling sound their feet make on the paper. Getting them off to a good healthy start. The paper degrades after a number of days into the litter.
Cardboard rolls are a good way of creating a barrier down the length of the house by standing it on edge and pegging it to posts or drinker lines, this is temporary and is removed after chick placement.
Cardboard rolls can also be used to create chick rings in Turkey production.
