Medium density polyethylene, commonly shortened to MDPE, is a type of polyethylene. Blue MDPE pipes are most common in the UK and the metric pipe sizes are measured externally across the diameter. We stock 20mm, 25mm and 32mm.

Older, usually black water pipes were imperial sizes and these were measured on the internal diameter. We don't stock these and they require specialist inserts to work with modern MDPE Metric Pipe Fittings.

When working at higher pressure with MDPE fittings it is advisable to use pipe liners

Threaded fittings commonly used with MDPE are available in ½", ¾" or 1" BSP Male and Female

BSP thread sizes don't match up with what you measure on the scale of a ruler, which can cause some confusion. A 1/2 inch BSP thread actually measures more like 26.5mm with a ruler.
